Who will be comforted?

Matthew 5:4 Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.

The word mourn  means to be broken over your sin.  It means to see the grave offense of your sin.  It means there is no little sin.  Sin is an act of rebellion against God.  Sin shouts to God that He is not worthy of your devotion or trust.  What do those who mourn in the spiritual realm desire?  What is Jesus promising them?  What is their comfort?  It is the forgiveness of sins.  This is the only thing that will comfort a broken sinner.  The certainty of forgiveness is seen in the phrase "they shall be."  This is a future passive which means that they will receive from the heart of God the very thing they desire.  Are you broken over your sin?
