Are you rejoicing that your reward is in Heaven?

Matthew 5:10-12

10. "Blessed are those who have been persecuted for the sake of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven."

11, "Blessed are you when people insult you and persecute you, and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of Me."

12. "Rejoice and be glad, for your reward in heaven is great; for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you."

God"s pathway to blessedness brings us to a shocking finality.  Is this life all there is for us?  If this world is it, then we should live for self.  We should seek self comfort.  We should seek self glory.  We should strive to walk the easy road.  However, this life is not the end but just the beginning.  The race doesn't end at death.  Heaven is a race we run without sin nor defect.  Heaven is where real living begins.  This is not to say life doesn't matter here but that our life here finds fulfillment there.  The Beatitudes teach that living the blessed life will result in persecution.  Jesus reminds us that to be persecuted is not a sign of God's disfavor, but it is a sign of following God's pathway.  Don't allow persecution or suffering to rob you of the joy of your heavenly treasure.  Are you rejoicing that your reward is in Heaven?
