Matthew 7:3 Why do you look at the speck that is in your brother's eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye?

Jesus illustrates the style of judgment He observes in humanity.  We tend to magnify the faults of others while minimizing our sins.  We are blind to our faults, while we see clearly the faults of others.  The word "look" appears to imply that this is our default position.  It is as a hunter who goes out looking for his prey.  It is as if we put other people under a microscope and examine every nuance of their life to find a fault or sin.  This is the attitude that God will judge.  An attitude that downplays our sins and makes a big deal of the sins of others.  The attitude of being ready to find fault.  Take some time today and consider your attitude toward others.  Ask God to show you any harmful attitudes toward others.
