Ask, Seek, Knock

Mathew 7:7 Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.

The devotional from yesterday closed by urging you to pray about when to share the Gospel.  Prayer is essential for life in this fallen world.  To not pray is a fatal wound.  To not pray is a sin.  To not pray is a confession you do not need God.  To not pray is to be occupied with the things of this world.  To not pray is to believe in the wisdom of this world, not the wisdom that God provides.  Matthew 7:7 teaches us that prayer is not a magical set of words, but a calling to seek God's wisdom.  Prayer is not a one and done, but it is a continued calling out to God.  It is a daily obsession with knowing God and hearing from God.  Prayer is a means by which we draw closer to God.  The words, ask, seek and knock remind us that it is a blessed burden.  There is much work in prayer.  The call is for us to keep praying until God has provided the things we need.
