Depart From Me

Matthew 7:22-23 Many will say to Me on that day, ''Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles?' And then I will declare to them,' I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness."

Here we have those who think they can earn salvation by doing good things for Jesus.  They did religious activities in the name of Jesus, but their hearts were far from God.  Isaiah reminds us that our best works are filthy rags as far as God is concerned. (Isaiah 64:6). The Gospel teaches us that our good is never good enough.  Position doesn't open Heaven's door. Religious activity doesn't open Heaven"s door.  When we point to our works, Jesus will declare that he  never knew us.  Salvation is not that we know facts about Jesus, but that we know Jesus.  His work brings salvation to sinners.  Are you trusting in your good work? Are you trusting in the perfect work of Jesus?
