I Am Willing

Matthew 8:1-4 When Jesus came down from the mountain, large crowds followed Him.  And a leper came to Him and bowed down before Him, and said, "Lord, if You are willing, You can make me clean."  Jesus stretched out His hand and touched him, saying, "I am willing; be cleansed."  And immediately his leprosy was cleansed.  And Jesus said to him, "See that you tell no one; but go, show yourself to the priest and present the offering that Moses commanded, as a testimony to them."

Jesus taught as one who had authority (Matthew 7:28-29). The rest of Matthew demonstrates His authority,. He not only spoke as one who had authority, but he acted as one who had authority.  Jesus was not a dispassionate authority.  His authority did not lead to apathy, but empathy.  His authority reveals the very heart of God toward finite people.  We have witnessed those who abuse their authority.  We have heard of people who once they got to the top forgot what it was like to be at the bottom.  Matthew 8:1-4 reveals that Jesus' heart never grew cold toward those who were broken.  These verses reveal His power and His love.  Jesus is willing to heal broken people and He is able to heal broken people.  These verses should motivate us to pray to God.
