God Disciplines His Children

Hebrews 12:4-6 You have not yet resisted to the point of shedding blood in your striving against sin; and you have forgotten the exhortation which is addressed to you as sons, "My son, do not regard lightly the discipline of the Lord, nor faint when you are reproved by Him; for those whom the Lord loves He disciplines, and He scourges every son whom He receives."

Why do Christians experience difficult seasons of life?  One answer is that God uses the difficult days to mature our faith.  Romans 8:28 is a cousin to these verses.  God is at work in everything for our good.  We know that not everything is good, but that God is able to work in every situation for our good.  This means that God disciplines us.  Discipline has a negative connotation in the minds of many people.  The word simply means to correct or to teach the right way.  Discipline is evidence of God's love.  Don't try to figure out if every bad circumstance is from God accept it and know God either sent it or will use it for your spiritual growth.  How should you respond to God's discipline?  How do you respond to difficult things? Do you complain or ask God to help you walk by faith?
