Fear God, Not People

Matthew 10:26-31

We should not fear persecution.  We should fear God but not like we fear things of this world.  A right fear of God leads to a right attitude toward the difficult things in this world.  To fear God means we worship God.  It means we don't allow the threats of this world to cause us to compromise or walk in sin.  Verse 27 calls us to be bold in our walk in this world.  The time is for believers to share the hope of Jesus with the world.  We cannot allow "what ifs" to tie our tongue.  Verses 28-31 teach God's power and God's knowledge.  We worship God because He is the Judge who cannot be resisted or deceived.  He knows all things.  Verse 31 exhorts us not to fear because we are of greater value than sparrows.  We are God's children.  He will work all things out for His glory and our good.  Do you fear God?  Or do you fear people?
