Dealing With Doubt

Matthew 11:1-6

Many believers will deal with doubt at some point in their life.  We may doubt our salvation because of sin we have committed.  We may doubt God's love because of a difficult season of life.  Is it ok to doubt?  The short answer is no.  However, doubt is part of our fallen nature, and we should deal with doubt.  John the Baptist had questions about Jesus' ministry.  Was this a question of doubt?  Was it a question for clarification?  I believe John was dealing with doubt.  Let us be thankful that Matthew writes about John's doubt.  For in these verses we find two principles for dealing with doubt.  First, don't keep you doubts to yourself.  Tell someone!  John told his disciples and they went to Jesus.  Second, doubt is due  to a limited ability to recall the goodness of God.  Jesus' answer to John the Baptist was for Him to hear of His compassion and power.  When you doubt, look to God and not your deficiencies.
