Excuse Me

Matthew 18:7-11

We make excuses because we love ourselves more than we love God.  Think of some of the excuses you have used in your life.  Why did you make them?  Were they to save face or to excuse sin?  Jesus acknowledges there are many stumbling blocks in the world.  There are a variety of temptations that lead us to sin against God.  Jesus told the woman in John 8 that He didn't condemn her and to go and sin no more.  I don't know if she made an excuse to Jesus but I know that Jesus" command to go and sin no more did not allow for excuses.  How do we live in a world of stumbling blocks?  We don't make excuses and we don't cause others to stumble.  Jesus gives a warning that the one who causes others to sin will face judgment.  Flowing from that thought, Jesus shows us the intensity by which we are to fight sin.  We are to rid ourselves of those things that will hinder us and cause others to sin.

Thankful Thoughts:  Jesus will forgive our sins, if we will confess them to Him.
